Focusing On Pest Control

Taking Care Of Things After Removing The Rodents Living In Your Home

Sharing your home with the local rodents isn't exactly in anyone's plans, but it happens way more often than anyone would like. If you've recently battled rodents in the home, there are several things to do to undo the damage that they've done and prevent them from returning in the near future.

Hire a Pest Control Specialist

If you haven't done so already, it's important that you call a pest control specialist to come out and inspect your home. You may think that the battle has been won, but you never know when those little critters could be rebuilding their troops or just waiting for you to slip up and stop setting traps so they can invade once again.

A pest control specialist will be able to identify signs that the rodents are still active in the house. For example, you may see a pile of old droppings sitting in the corner and think it's from the last round of rodents – but the specialist will be able to determine if those droppings are left from before or if the rodents have set up shop in the house again.

Not only will the specialist be able to find the rodents and evidence of them much easier than you, they'll be able to track down where the rodents are getting into the house. Once you find the access point, you can block it off and set bait and traps in that area to prevent further intrusion.

Undoing the Damage

All of those messes that the rodents made under your cabinets, in the drawers, and in the corners of your closets will need to be cleaned up. The longer you allow the droppings to remain, the harder it will be to get the smell out of wherever it is that you're finding them. When you find the droppings, clean them up with a vacuum or broom and wipe the area clean with a mixture of white vinegar and water.

Another thing that you have to worry about is chewed wires. If the rodents were living in your kitchen, bring in a kitchen appliance repair technician to inspect the wiring in the appliances. The rodents may have chewed wiring or hoses that could cause the appliance to fail, or even catch on fire.

Now that the rodents are gone, it's important that you keep up with the regular maintenance and cleaning around the house. Any signs that you notice that could mean the rodents are back should be taken seriously and a call to your local pest control specialist placed.

About Me

Focusing On Pest Control

After dealing with bug infestations in my home for a few years, it occurred to me that I had to do something to make things right. I began thinking about all of my available options, and I realized that working with a professional pest control contractor was one of my best bets. I talked with them about the kinds of bugs that I was finding in my home, and they were really helpful. They came out, sprayed, and even applied some protective treatments around the outside of my house to deter future issues. I wanted to start a blog all about pest control, so I made this website. Check it out.
